My window into the world of hummingbirds is a bit too reflective. I can see my lampshade.
Looking past that, this is a fun image of a pair of hummingbirds approaching and departing from the feeder that is attached to our deck railing. We’ve had a regular hummingbird convention out there today. One of the secrets is to change out the nectar every other day or so. They like fresh nectar. They like it a lot.
I tried to sit out on the deck for a while, in order to get a clearer image. One of the wee beasts came right up to me, not more than three feet away, and hovered. Moved and hovered, looking me over from lots of angles. I sat still and reveled in the deep hum of those wings beating the air like a helicopter but much higher frequency. After that once-over, I got left alone, and no birds came close. I went inside, and they came back. I’ll have to try that again, for a longer period.
