I have to admit, I had a more beautiful butterfly that I was photographing, but not this one. The first one I got as it was seeking nectar in the flowering mint, had a very complex and colorful tail. I was on manual focus and it was a small thing, I was focused in on its tail, thinking that was the head, then it dawned on me that I was at the ass end of the insect. I only got a couple of out of focus snaps of the head before it flew off.
This Cabbage White Butterfly kindly decided to sit down and stick its proboscis into the flowering mint.
I’m still laughing at me making a major mistake in anatomy detection. Oh well. Live and learn.
