My Model

Karen is many things and helps me in many ways, especially with my photography.

There’s a new reception facility which will be the scene of an upcoming wedding celebration. We took a visit there today to get a feel for the hall and the surrounding grounds. It’s one of the nicest venues in the area. I was astonished as to the thought that was put into the building and the interior.

Karen was my model and occasional off camera flash holder today, as we went around and took test shots. One very nice feature, for any photographer, are the color of the walls. There’s two neutral gray walls and two neutral tan walls. Who needs a backdrop with those nice flat, neutral walls nearby. The ceiling is white, which allows for a nice fill light when bouncing the flash up towards it. I was really smiling when we left.

There’s rolling farmland all around, which in the case of this photo, makes for a nice backdrop. The power wires can be easily removed. There’s flower beds that are in the process of being planted just beyond where Karen’s standing. Add a waterfall in a nice corner of the outside of the building, and I was a happy guy.

Karen’s holding a flash with a modifier on it. The Gary Fong Lightsphere Collapsible, which gives nice soft light, plus can use that ceiling to add some more flattering light.

She’s a pretty good looking model, on top of being the love of my life.
