One of the miracles of nature, turning sunlight into energy, always lifts my spirit.
This Maple leaf, was flitting in and out of the sunlight on a breezy morning. I spied it as I was walking through the woods that make up Lincoln Memorial Garden on Lake Springfield. I stood patiently as it came in and out of that full sunshine, waiting for the right moment to appear.
Despite the severe drought that has devastated the farm crops, the trees seem to be mostly weathering the stress. They’re not happy about it, but most will likely come through. If the drought deepens and lasts through winter, then I worry deeply for all of nature, including us two-legged creatures.
For the moment, this particular moment brings me some solace and delight.

Exceptional photograph and reflection. I hope they spread far and wide, so others might also stop and think.
Thank you, dear brother of mine.
