Starfish, shells, ocean glass, stuff, all in a tray that sits in a bay window in our home.
A reminder of the beauty of the ocean and the things the waves push onto the sands and shoreline.
The word Tchotchke immediately came to mind. Things that we collect that sit to collect dust and remind us of some thing or some experience that touches us deeply. Knickknacks, trinkets and geegaws, clutter our homes, each having a purpose of reminding us.
I can hear the ocean waves, crashing on the shore, smell the salt-tinged air, and hear the birds.
A little dust collection to remind me.

Such a gorgeous photo, Matt (with two “t’s”)! I love both the color and that beautiful light. But equally so, I love what you have written. It’s absolutely lovely.
Thank you, Katya. I tried to be accurate in the spelling of tchotchke. I first recall it in the chotchke form, and searched to be more accurate.
As for my words. I’m always fascinated by what comes out as I type it. I just have to tap into a thought as a response to the image, and let my fingers keep up with my soul. That said, sometimes, I’m tapped out. =)
Oh boy, I can’t even imagine how I would have spelled “tchotchke.” I was a third grade spelling bee failure.
Even your “tap into”/”tapped out” was beautifully written. My point made — great writer!
You know how to make me smile, Katya, with your words and especially with your photographs.
