Sunset along the bay at Beaufort, South Carolina, where the trees are draped with Spanish Moss and the Atlantic Ocean is just a rowboat ride away.
When we visit this part of the country, we always make a day trip to Beaufort. Bay street, is full of historic homes, shops, places to sit a spell and the vista of the bay. We make a point to stay through sunset, and, seeing this reminder, I believe you can tell why we make that a priority.
The low tide on the salt marsh shows the vegetation that keeps the waters clear and healthy. The boats line the bay, waiting their next voyage. The trees are tall, with many being hundreds of years old. The Spanish Moss rides the tree limbs, getting what it needs from the sun and the air, lending a distinctive draping.
It’s a beautiful place that welcomes visitors, making friends quickly. Highly recommended as a place to set a spell and take in the wonders of the South.
