Sunset on the Pier

All the hot temperatures had me going back to a time when it was a bit cooler.

This is from a March trip to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.

Between the island and the mainland is a small island that contains a wildlife refuge on one side of the highway that bisects the land, and a public boat doc and fishing pier on the other side. It’s one of the nice spots for viewing sunsets.

The clouds looked like they would cooperate and add interest to the sky. Clouds give the setting sun a canvas to paint upon in the colors of the red half of the rainbow.

I noticed this fisherman about to head back to the floating dock and his partner, guarding the poles. His dog trailing afterwards, in hopes of a treat or a scratch behind the ears. I composed and waited until he got into the reflection of the sun in the water, and in an instant, I had this.

Some folks don’t like to fish. I’m one of those, but I do like to sit quietly and enjoy the moment as it passes by. Sitting on a dock is good place for that.
