As we were heading out to drive by the Post Office for the last pickup, Karen noticed I had my camera in hand. “Oh, you’re taking your camera?” said she. I replied: “Never pass up an opportunity to add to my catalog!”
These Purple Cone Flowers or Echinacea, were holding onto the last bits of beauty, as they dried out under the relentless heat that the sun has been pouring out of late.They line the driveway and made for an instant interest, especially with the spot of sun on the top of the flower in focus. I took photographs of several in different stages of post-bloom, and decay. Some looked like the sun’s rays had fried the petals, as if a laser had burned them at specific points, leaving the rest of the petals intact and beautiful.
Karen liked this one the best, so this is the one for today.
