The skies started interesting me during my evening walk.
Clouds and the sun were dancing slowly in the sky. One, heading towards the horizon, shifting into the colors of the end of day, the other, the clouds, drifting and changing shapes as the winds aloft and the rotation of the earth below pushed them along overhead.
By the time I got to my car, the pull was irresistible.
I pulled out my camera and started taking images, one after the other, as the scene and light changed. I kept my car window down, and my attention split between the road and the sky.
This one is of a soybean field, as I’m passing down the road. I think I slowed down at this point, wanting to get that clump o trees and farm shed to the right, and the sun in the same frame.
A typical scene in the farmlands of the Central Plains States.
Typical, but it still stirs the soul.

So, so beautiful, Matt. I agree, our native prairie stirs our souls, and ever calls us home …
