Beauty & the Bee

A Purple Cone Flower, or Echinacea flower, just past it’s bloom, with a bumble bee busily gathering nectar and pollen.

The bee attracted my attention after the flower did. These flowers are a stunning beauty at this stage and just in full blossom. The bee was working its way around the head of the flower, being as busy as a bee gets, I suspect.

The background of variations of green made it an easy composition. I did take many frames, trying to get just the right position of the bee. I couldn’t walk around the flower, so I stood still, bent over, looking through my camera’s lens, as the bee gradually came into view.

Patience does pay off, most times.
