Christmas Tree Smiles

Our annual family portrait by the Christmas tree.

Chris & Jennie are so gracious, coming over to take what has become an annual event for many years. After our Sunday lunch together, we asked and they consented to come over to finish out the Christmas season with a portrait.

I did the initial setup, and Chris finished the fine-tuning of the camera and flash. It was a cooperative effort.

The cats had knocked one of the strands of lights, and we had to hunt for the missing ends, to get the tree fully illuminated. You don’t see them, but the two felines were milling about, wanting to figure out what was going on.

Later on, after they had left, I mentioned that we hadn’t sung “O Christmas Tree” (O Tannenbaum) as we usually do. Karen said she knew, but didn’t bring it up. I offered to set up a web-cam or “Face-Time” on our phones, so we could complete the annual end of Christmas season activities. I said that we might have to leave the tree up in order to get that song in. Perhaps.

Family traditions. Worth keeping, and worth getting a picture as a reminder of the joys of family.
