Little Cousin

I’m sure that the small tree planting was not the focus of my composition when I took this, but I know that it is what stands out to me. Hence the title, “Little Cousin”

Large mature Maples and Oak trees surround the small maple in the rolling landscape that makes up this portion of Lincoln Park in Springfield, Illinois. This is just North of the lagoon.

Winter is in full bloom with no snow fall as yet. The trees are dormant, pushing roots deeper into the earth in search of nutrients and water. They’re getting ready to burst with new growth and leaves.

I should go back to this place in a few months, when the full green of Spring is upon us. Check on the progress of this small cousin of the tall trees.

It’s a nice place to walk and hear the wind.

  1. The big ones look like they are holding hands over the little one. Cool shot!
