I’ve been trying to slow down and enjoy the moment more.
The days go by and there’s often more ‘stuff’ that whizzes by, recalled only as a blur instead of with clarity and detail.
One daily pair of events that draws me in to pause and notice is the sunrise and sunset. Sunsets mostly, as I’m a bit of a night owl.
This scene, the beginnings of a sunset over the Sangamon River in Riverside Park, was a delight to notice and cherish as the moments flowed by. I tell folks, as I stand still, watching a sunset, that one way to notice the swift change of light is to take your eyes off the scene for a short bit, then look back. When I do that, I notice the sometimes subtle, sometimes marked change in the way the setting sun has altered the scene.
I could spend much time studying sunsets.
Perhaps I will.
