Sunset on the Sangamon

Just around the river bend, the light put on a show at sunset.

I went to Riverside Park that evening, to catch some more of the colors of Autumn. The trees were about half bare, so I had missed the fullness of this seasonal showcase of color. The park did not disappoint.

The Sangamon River meanders through this area. The banks form one side each of Riverside and Carpenter’s Park. This side has more open fields and places to sit a spell to enjoy the quiet moments of nature. Carpenter’s is a park to explore. There are many trails there that lead above and below the river bluffs. I especially enjoy it in full winter with a pile of snow. Riverside, I prefer just about anytime, as long as I have the bug spray on at sunrise and sunset.

I explored the river banks for a while, and then I saw this light forming.

The nearly horizontal rays of the sun were kicking up the color and brightness quite a few notches when I got into position. A burst of the best light ever to hit those leaves and anything else that it touched. That’s what I was seeking.

That is what I got.

  3. Wow. Picture perfect and what a glow! Reminds me of West Jefferson and wacking the weeds during my teen years.
