The lovely sunsets of late had me recalling this sunset. Late one March day, the view from just off the two-lane highway overlooking the waterfront of Beaufort, South Carolina.
The Spanish moss, hanging by the trees was gently swaying in the nearby ocean breeze. Everything had that deep red-orange glow cast by the clear sky sun, setting over the horizon.
It’s a magical light at a place full of history and delights.
For me, born and raised on the flat corn & soybean fields, found from horizon to horizon in the Central Plains States, this is a treat. Palm trees and Spanish moss, the Atlantic Ocean nearby and this being a tributary leading to that seemingly endless mass of water, it couldn’t get much more foreign and thus interesting to me.
A bit of visual confection. A no calorie treat.
