Autumn Turning

We’re just on the cusp of a full bloom of Autumn color in this part of the world. Some trees are bare, their leaves already turned and fallen early, others are still green, and some are in-between.

I was taking bags of groceries out of the car, and looked up at this River Birch, which stands at the corner of our home. A perfect image, the leaves are all different colors, and the backdrop is the full green of maples against the clear blue sky.

I love things that are beautifully complex. Even things that appear not so beautiful shine with beauty to my eyes in their complexity and chaos.

I could look at trees for hours, soaking up the near infinite variety, whether in full bloom, transitioning in Autumnal colors, or with bare branches. Listening to the wind, whether gently rustling the leaves, the swaying, whirling shush of a strong breeze, even the scary and heart pumping roar of the gusting winds that a strong storm brings. They all sing to me with the joy of nature.

The natural cycles in our lives, can provide more enjoyment than any human-made entertainment. I just need to pay attention.
