With at least two other boy cousins nearby and the inquisitive energy of being 18 months new to this world, Alex had much better things to do than smile for my camera.

We were very, very fortunate that my finger and Alex’s smile happened at the exact same moment in time.

Is it a perfect portrait? It is if you count the smiles and the boundless happiness in mother and child. The bond of love between these two shows.

Heather might recall the cajoling, the wind whipping hair, or the other not so perfect moments. All those vanished the moment I saw this one.
