Joey Waits

Perfect for an Autumn is playing outside with an enthusiastic, well-behaved and loving dog, such as this handsome Sheltie, otherwise known affectionately as Joey.

This little fella is one fast dog. As my friend Ed says: “You’re not going to catch a Sheltie if they don’t want to be caught” There were times when Joey took off running, a blur of high energy. I can see where they would be able to shepherd a flock of sheep, running circles around them, quickly chasing down strays.

Joey’s prime motivation, besides herding anything in his domain, is the treats that Ed and Mary Ellen use to train Joey. The dog is one smart pup too. He kept close track of who had the treats and which hand they were in. He’s looking attentive in this portrait by the treat being dangled from one of those two behind me.

Joey was ready for more action, but I finally wore out.

I look forward to spending time in the future with this most delightful friend.
