Not too many things are more fun around a house than a playful cat.

Here, Smokey, the every on the move feline, is hunkered down in the planter that stands right by our front door. My every move is being scrutinized by the millisecond.

She’s constantly on the alert at any movement or sound, looking for an opportunity to play.

In this instance, I was heading to the check that the door was locked, and to put on my shoes. Smokey rocketed ahead of me, jumping up into the planter and then lowered herself, as she lay in wait, ready to thrust a paw at my passing hand in invitation to play.

I couldn’t help myself. I had the camera in hand, prepared for the day’s events, and popped of a few frames. I was in a hurry, and so didn’t take much time to frame. That her face is partially obscured by the flower is more my lack of composition than her posing. It works well for my take on her look here.

I try to heed Smokey’s call to play as often as I can. She encourages me to recall that play and fun are essential parts of a healthy life.

As the LOL Cat would say: IM IN UR PLANT. BE AFRAID OV ME!
