Light and Shadows

A quick post of green and pink for today’s photograph.

Family from Boston, Massachusetts have been visiting most of this week, and we’ve been enjoying evenings full of conversation, food and family bonding.

I love the green leaves in the shadows in this composition of a flowering plant. The small light green buds eventually burst into the pink and mauve colored flowers. It’s an ordinary plant, but extraordinary when viewed up close. Karen thinks it’s a hydrangea

Time slows down, when I do a macro photograph like this. I have to concentrate on being still, and getting the lens into the best position for a good portrayal of the scene. Many macro photographers use a tripod and a special tripod head that allows the camera to move in very tiny movements forward and back and some from side to side also. For now, I do my macros hand held, which is hard to do, for these not entirely steady hands. I make do with what I have.

The wonder of the world of the small. It’s beauty that’s worth lingering over, long enough to take it in and cherish it.
