Along the side of the Interurban Trail, between Woodside Road and I-72, there signs of animals who had been gleaning food from the fields which line the trail at that point.
This ravished corncob, shucked with the husk trailing behind, lay in the remains of the snow. Some resident of the woods had picked it clean of all the yellow kernels of corn, leaving it behind as it continued on in it’s relentless search for food.
With the backdrop of the bare tree branches, and foreground of mostly lifeless vegetation, I thought this was a good opportunity to capture the scene of winter. There’s just a hint of green in the brown leaves at the bottom of the frame.
The geese flying south are a hint of the coming green of spring. We’ll leave behind the husk of winter, having devoured all it’s cold and wet, all the ice and snow. Ahead is the full bloom of new growth, of life renewed.
Such is each day.
We consume the moments of life, leaving behind the husks of possibilities, and energized by the choices which we have made, in search of the new choices which lay before us. The memory of the past fills and supports us, readies us for that which is to come.
A constant cycle of life, lived to the full.

Nice rendition of the end of winter landscape; dead plants that still nourish and branches waiting for the coming warm days.
