I love the way this one red flower pops out from under a canopy of green leaves.
From the Washington Park Botanical Garden. That’s where I go to get some color on mid-winter days. I filled up on just about every flower and plant that was on display. I’m doling them out one at a time, to savor the color on cold and gray days.
If you get a chance to see it large: Check out the fuzzy bits around the edges of the petals. Interesting what nature evolves.
I don’t ponder much about flowers, I merely savor their beauty, letting it fill me up with visual delight. Winter has a way of helping me notice the joy of the cycle of the seasons. Without winter, the spring would not be as sweet.
And so life goes, a cycle of yin and yang, of lights and darks, ups and downs. Not to wax philosophic too much, but I’ve really come to appreciate this dual nature of life in more areas of my experience as I’ve gotten along in years. Perhaps that’s as it should be.
I just like this flower, for the beauty it brings to my winter-weary eyes.

Stunning color and subtle soft focus that’s incredibly precise.
