Good enough to eat!
I used to eat flowers as a young lad. To this day, I imagine them to be a tempting taste treat, although I avoid eating them except on rare occasion.
This orange burst of petals and parts, nestled in the “V” of green leaves was low to the ground and tucked around a corner in the Washington Park Botanical Garden. The orange caught my eye, as I let my gaze drift around me, looking for interest. This one surely was interesting.
I do that when out on the hunt for an image of interest, I stop and turn around, looking up and down and all around very slowly. I try to imagine the view from unusual angles at the same time. I also have the lens I have on my camera in mind, as well as the other lenses that I have with me. Sounds like a lot, and it is. I’m doing this more and more, working to “see” what might look ordinary at first glance but, with the right angle and composition, could become something much more.
That pause to reflect and imagine other points of view carries over into other aspects of my life. When thinking about a vexing technical problem with computers, information systems and networks, I try this technique to problem solve. Dealing with folks that have vastly different views than me, I try to imagine from their point of view.
There’s a rich world all around me, some of it to be found by taking another look from a different point of view.

Punch is right… this shot practically crackles with sharp, distinctive color; with a center right element that mimmicks an eye. Neat and unique.
