Sissy, showing me her best side.
Or, just choosing to not look at me. You decide.
I was home in-between photo sessions, and doing a quick review in-camera of the day’s photos, when I noticed Sissy on our bed.
A perfect opportunity for another cat portrait.
Sissy isn’t one to look directly at me for any length of time. She averts my gaze especially when I have a camera in hand. I kept trying to get her to look into the lens. Kind of hard to do, holding the camera in on hand, and flicking my fingers in my other hand to get her attention and then trying to get a steady shutter snap.
I like this one, but mostly because it was the sharpest of the bunch.
Lovely and intense gaze. Turning her right side to me, as if she were Norma Desmond (played by Gloria Swanson) saying to the unseen director Cecil B. DeMille, “All right, Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my close-up.” (From the movie Sunset Boulevard).
This isn’t the movies. Just the two of us, enjoying each other’s company.
Thanks for the pose, Sissy.

Definitely a Barrymore-esque profile. She almost looks as though she’s got her shoulders resting on a counsel’s lectern before the court: ‘Your honor, I demand the defendant be placed in a new cat-egory!’
