Murking Traffic

A moody, noir piece that hit me while waiting at a stop light in traffic.

I grabbed my camera and set up quickly, rolled down my window and stuck it out for a one snap grab. The light turned green just before I fired off the shutter.

The fog, illuminated by the street lamps here, and the wet pavement is what caught my eye. This is after close to a week of fog had blanketed the area in a cocoon of visible moisture. The feeling of gloom was no fun after a while.

Now it’s February, and the daylight is visibly longer every evening. The chill is still in the air, but there’s a feeling that Spring is just around the corner. No doubt there will be many more days of cold and even some snow or worse. That’s to be expected.

Knowing that time moves on is a comfort.

The moment, whether pleasing or unpleasant, passes.

The good thing about time: There’s a surprise waiting in every coming moment. Not knowing what’s coming is part of the beauty of discovery.
