Night Leaves

Interesting, what a sodium vapor light, with it’s copper-colored light, does to a bunch of brown leaves.

These leaves were hanging on, waiting for that last burst of wind to blow them to the ground. It was after sunset, and the only light was the aforesaid street-lamp, which was making these leaves glow.

I liked the color, stark against the black sky.

The tree is completely bare now, no more leaves above, all are below or in bags, waiting to be mulched with the zillions of others from around the city. The color has turned to that pre-Winter dreary overcast, with the sun hiding or appearing through the haze of clouds.

In our hearts, the leaves are there, green as ever.

Spring is inside, always ready to burst forth, but only when it’s the right time.

There is a season, and it’s now one of waiting.
