My great-niece Cora.
My focus isn’t perfect, but I’m fine with that. The smile and the direct look into my lens is worth a bit of imperfect.
Cora was sitting with her dad, Matt, at the kitchen table, enjoying her part in the family conversation.
Uncle Matt, me, discretely but not trying to hide it either, brings up my camera to my face, keeping the conversation going at the same time. Focus, frame and this is the last of a series of five frames I took. In my haste to capture the natural glance that Cora was giving me, I was slightly off in my focus.
Matt made the comment as I showed him this one, that Cora looked about 8 years older than she is. Not really, to my eyes. Matt is probably flexing those protective father muscles, getting in some advance practice.
The moment passed and Cora was swiftly off onto another adventure with her younger sister Layla. I had my chance, took it and am grateful that I got this one.
Thank you, kind Cora, for focusing on me, even if for just a fleeting moment.
I take my moments and cherish them as they fly by.
