Working Capitol

The State Capitol building as reflected in a State office building.

I’ve seen this one before and tried to capture it, but tonight it became a mission.

Some say that the legislators who toil under the Capitol dome do more blowing of hot air than actual work. While there may be much truth in that, there are good things that come of a representative legislature. I’d rather have an imperfect representative government than one where I have no vote. It’s like sausage, you don’t really want to see how it’s made.

The real work of enforcing and putting into action the laws passed under the dome is done by folks in the buildings like this one, it’s windows looking out on the Capitol. The daily toil of thousands of State employees, is where the rubber meets the road.

  1. Terrific presentation on the meaning of representative government … in image and in words.
