Red Kissed with Golden Light

Picking one of my set from a sunset walk in the park was a tough choice.

I went through the set over and over, trying to decide.

I finally asked my bride, my dear Karen Sue, to help.

One after another I went through my favorites. She picked it out right away, Number 2. “Oh, I like that one!”

Number 2 it is.

Nearly sunset in a small park near our home. I went walking when I spied this maple tree with leaves turning red.

The golden rays of sunset were lighting up a section of the tree. I had to work fast, as the light was changing, second by second.

I took about two dozen frames. Different angles, groupings, lighting, zooming in and out.

This one was one of the first 3 taken. There were two, nearly alike. I cropped them differently, and tweaked each one to it’s best, to my eyes.

Karen saw the one she wanted right away.

I agree with her.

295 of 366 Self Portraits

On my way back to the car after my sunset walk in the park.

I spied my shadow, and here you are.

Long tall shadow man.

Satisfied from a day of work (some overtime to swap servers) and a refreshing walk.

The perfect cap for a great day.

At the end of my sunset walk in the park, I took out my pocket camera (the superb Panasonic LX3) and grabbed this self portrait.

I’m catching up on missed days for the 366 self portrait project.

It was easy to smile with the beautiful sunlight and colorful red leaves.

A quick point and shoot of me, among the leaves.

Soon, they’ll start falling. Until then, they’re a delight.

Heading Home Part Deux

Heading home after a late night at work.

I had just taken my self portrait facing the other direction, and was struck by the night scene in this direction.

While my camera was out (the Panasonic LX3), I shot from the hip and got this beauty.

The original color was that coppery color which sodium vapor lights give off. I decided that a black & white conversion would do much nicer.

That’s my dependable Toyota Avalon – Mattp9 – at the curb. Nice to have a 10 year old car still working and in great condition.

First Street at night. Heading home once again.

My intention was to get the State capitol building in the background, but of the several that I took I like this one best.

Working late at work to set up for a server swap tomorrow. As I was leaving, I stopped in the middle of the street and brought out the camera (Panasonic LX3).

Still smiling, 13 hours after arriving for work in the morning. Hope to be smiling tomorrow after our work is done. =)

I’m still very, very happy with the job this camera does. Karen hasn’t complained yet, but I’m hardly without it these days.

I did a black & white conversion, again because of the funky copper lighting from sodium vapor street lights. Works for me.

Heading Home

Post Choir Noir

The scene just struck me as out of a movie.

The rain on the pavement reflecting the parking lot lights. My car sitting solitary.

Handy to have a camera in my hand, and even better that it’s the Panasonic LX3.

Turned out kind of nice.

What started out as a blurry self portrait takes on new life after some wild post-processing.

I caught my image in the rear view mirror as I was exiting the car. Nice light, I said to myself.

Grabbing the Panasonic LX3, I zoomed in a bit and took one shot. My hand wasn’t steady enough for the slow shutter, so it blurred a bit.

I almost gave up on it when I thought of doing some wacky post processing, which I’ve gotten away from of late.

A little this, a little that, and here you are.

A tired me. Fuzzy around the edges.
