When we went to First Presbyterian Church at Seventh & Capitol to see the “Lincoln Pew” I was not expecting this.
In addition to the 6 large vertical Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass windows, there’s this, the one that ties them all together.
The descending dove of peace, high in the choir loft, surrounded by the wood encased organ pipes.
The blue and white glows, with just a touch of orange, yellow and red.
Worth a visit if your in my town, Springfield, Illinois.
This could be the face I was wanting to give out today as I was finishing up at work, ready for a 2 week vacation.

It wasn’t. I was nice, but I didn’t linger.
I love my day job, shepherding bits and bytes and making sure the computers and servers and printers all keep doing their job, so others can do theirs. I work with some of the best folks.
I’m just ready for a vacation.
Really ready.
Photos to come.
The leaves are beginning to turn and fall to the ground.
Just a couple yesterday. The gutters in the street are beginning to accumulate these harbingers of seasonal change.
The grass is growing tall in the changing weather, cool nights, good moisture. This lone leaf, stood out in contrast to the new grass growth.
Time stands still for nothing and no one. The new grows up amidst the old dying out.
Such is life. Rich in wonder.
All I did was look up.
It’s a habit I’ve developed.
Whenever I move from one location to another, I look in most directions: Up, Down, Left & Right.
I’m looking for the interesting, something that catches my imagination, that sparks a sense of wonder, even the ordinary in an extraordinary point of view.
Walking out of a store this evening, with the sunset beginning to paint the sky with yellows and oranges, I looked up to see this.
A dule of doves, some standing watch while others rest.
