Karen is smiling at her new camera.
She’s been without one for over a year, having to be satisfied with my big Panasonic FX-30 or her work camera.
No more!
I’ve been on the hunt for a great pocketable camera with professional specifications. One both of us could use for different purposes. I had been despairing of finding “the” camera, when I saw images from the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3.
This camera has a ton of features, but more than that, it’s very high in image quality. It has a very wide 24mm at f2.0 and only stops down to f2.8 at 60mm. The sensor is not some densly packed and noisy small thing, it’s big and only 10 megapixels. Image stabilized and useful ISO range to 800 and in a pinch up to 3200. The lens is a Leica-badged beauty which captures great detail. It also captures in RAW format, which is a requirement for me. It also records HD video with sound. It’s easy to use for Karen, and has all the manual controls for me. Macro down to 1cm as well.
Enough. You can tell I’m gushing over this beauty of a camera.
My bride of 30 years, my beautiful Karen Sue, I love you! I hope you love the camera as much as I do, and we take some superb photos together.

No question of the love between you two… in this an many other personal portraits that capture loving moments.
