I love apples, especially the Gala variety. Gala’s are sweet and not ultra-crisp, just enough.
A not-so-secret fact about me: I eat all the apple with the exception of the stem. My Dad would sometimes eat oranges, rind and all, but I found that to be awful. Apples, though, have lots of good sweet parts left around the core. I just get all that which others usually toss.
Karen and I drove out to this local orchard – The Apple Barn – and picked up a bushel of fresh galas. I looked but was not overly tempted by the other baked goods that they have for sale in their public store. As I was thinking to myself, wow those look good, someone brought out a fresh from the oven baked apple pie. That almost had me. =)
