Rebecca

One of the frames from a photo shoot with Rebecca, my niece, for her business.

We were heading outside for more photos in Rebecca’s garden, when I saw this light streaming through a window. I said “Stop! We have to take advantage of this light.”

After this series, we went up to her office which has a large window with a couch in front of it. That brought out more goodness.

Light has to be appreciated in the moment when you see it. I took advantage of the late afternoon sunlight, diffused by the overcast sky. The quality of light was changing by the second, and with every move of her face.

Rebecca was so easy to work with. She accepted my direction with ease, and added her thoughts without hesitation.

I love this one bunches.

244 of 366 Self Portraits

Tired out after getting home from 6 days travel away from home.

I had fun, learned a bunch, pushed my limits more than once, and made it home safe if not sound. =)

When I got home, I was thinking as I took off my camera bag, “Oh! What to do for a self portrait today?”

It wasn’t too hard to come up with an idea. I was tired, and ready to relax. I got out my camera, left the lens on it, and tried to relax and let my feelings just come out.

Hand over my head, resting against the back of the chair. I’d just let out a sigh, and snapped away.

Glad to be off the road and home.

I’ve got a ton of photos to process!

The Wonder of Exploring

At the lake by Rebecca & Bret’s home, with Rebecca & Warner exploring at sunset.

Rebecca & Bret spend much time with their children, exploring nature and enjoying the moment.

For one of the children’s birthday party, they took a nature walk. Sounds like a bunch of fun to me.

Growing up, we had 13 acres of land, which included a pond, a creek, lots of trees and plenty of nature. It’s a gift which has stayed with me all my life. It’s nice to see that wonder of nature being passed on to the next generation.

After a full day of exploring and having fun taking photos for my niece Rebecca’s business – rebeccaplants.com

Her two boys, Harmond and Warner were having as much fun as Rebecca and Bret and I were. We walked through the woods, saw spiders, deer, caterpillars and lots of other wonders of nature.

This evening, after a great meal, Rebecca, Warner and I went down to the lake to see what sunset would bring.

This is my satisfied but tired look after we returned home.

Thanks for the work and hospitality Rebecca, Bret, Harmond & Warner!

Ok, so you want great Indian cuisine and you are in the Washington D.C. area? Have I got the place for you.

Haandi http://www.haandi.com/

Wow was the service great, the food choices of great varieties, but the kicker is the tastes are exquisite. I like hot and spicy curry and I got it. Murgh Vandaloo – boneless chicken in a hot and “stimulating” curry sauce.

Just the right blend with a superb kick.

My brother Nick and his bride, Mary Ann, hosted me tonight at their place. Time to get together and enjoy family and have good conversations.

They asked where did I want to go out to eat, and I requested somewhere with good hot curry dishes. I could not have asked for a better choice. I would make a special trip just to sample more of their dishes.

We had much fun discussing politics, catching up on family, and enjoying each others company.

Riding the Washington D.C. Metro from Union Station to Balston on my to meetup with my brother Nick.

I made a rookie traveler mistake today by taking the Baltimore Metro to the Penn North stop, thinking that I would be near Penn Station. Nope. Thanks to the kindness of strangers, I got to the train on time.

I took the Amtrak Acela Express between Baltimore and Union station in D.C. This train is as fast as it gets in the US. I’ll have to find out how fast later. The trip was less than 30 minutes. Smooth and on time.

On the metro, still my favorite subway, there were lots of folks heading for an early start to their long weekend. I decided it was a good way to get my self portrait in the can.

That’s me on the right with the cameraphone in my hand.

Looks Fishy To Me

So I went out tonight, and danced in-between the raindrops looking for photo opportunities.

I finally ducked into the mall near the harbor, for a meal and dry respite.

After stealthily getting photos as I walked through the mall, successfully avoiding hearing “No photographs in the mall,” I settled for a salad on the top level.

As I was riding the escalator to the main floor, preparing to exit, I saw this scene unfold. I almost started backing up the escalator to try to get the perfect composition. With the mall guard near my vicinity, I thought better of that, and proceeded to stop at the railing in front of this fish.

A quick propping of the camera on the railing, and one take later here you are.

Not the image I had in mind, but close as I was gonna get tonight.
