When I married my bride Karen Sue, nearly 30 years ago, our minister started his remarks by pointing out that our declaration of love was like an opera unfolding before the collected family and friends gathered.
The idea of a wedding as opera has stuck with me ever since.
What better place to have a wedding than an elegantly ornate old theater in Joplin, Missouri. It had been converted to a church, but retained it’s grandeur and splendor.
The stage was set with a beautiful backdrop of white cloth, weaved with love and adorned with floral bouquets.
Instead of Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, or a contrived story, we see the real love of two to be joined together as one. Together declaring their love.
