I See The Light

I was looking for a photo to take, and noticed the lights were on on the lamp-posts in one area of the parking lot.

Unusual, especially because it was a bright, sunny afternoon.

I saw the possibilities and chose this pose.

I put my camera on a 2 second delay and set the exposure. I placed my camera, lens pointed up on the edge of the concrete ledge into which the lamp-poste was set.

Back out of the frame, and hope the camera doesn’t fall. It didn’t, and here you are.

The ordinary as seen from an extraordinary viewpoint.

Interesting.

Kilroy Was Here.

See this article for an explanation of Kilroy.

I was about to get in my car and was once again struck by the pattern of clouds, crisp against the deep blue sky.

Out came the camera, set the exposure and one frame later, here you are.

Portrait of the artist as a graffiti icon.

Some say I’ve an obsession with my nose.

Only the nose knows. =)

My Sister Trish’s house. New roof and cleaned outside.

I put my camera on my monopod, and held it aloft about 12 feet in the air. It gives a different perspective to photos of homes.

I had the delay on, giving me time to hoist the camera up and get it steady.

I like the change in perspective the technique gives.

My sister Trish and me.

Trish is two years my senior, my closest sibling of the eight of us. There’s 20 years between my oldest brother Larry and me.

I drove over to her house to document her new roof, and the clean siding and eaves that had recently been accomplished. Looks nice.

When Trish told me that the roof shingles were blue, I was skeptical, but they fit very nice.

I had my wide Sigma on a monopod to take some of the house shots.

As I was leaving, I asked if I could take a portrait of the two of us. Yup!

Matt & Pat – the twins. Not really twins, but we were called that sometimes.

She’s a peach!

The Sky And Eye

Perhaps it’s because they only hapen once a day that sunsets interest me.

Sunrises are also spectacular, but I’m a night person by nature.

This spectacular sunset shows a confluence of different types of clouds. They weave together to paint a magnificent landscape scene in the sky.

My eye is drawn to the clouds at the horizon, large clumps, majestic with nice shades of purple.

I also like the carpet of pink-orange at the top.

The slices of orange, heading to gold and white indicating the passing sun put a golden topping to it all.

I was looking out to see what the sunset was going to look like and thought of this.

Propeller-Head.

What’s out there?

Is it coming after me?

Probably, just like every day comes after me, saying “experience me please.” “Don’t just let the day go by without looking and wondering.”

I try to do that without this look on my face. =)

Natural Partners

I like the grouping here.

The clouds and sunlight on the prairie and trees.

Natural partners in the circle of life.

Sunlight, warming and providing energy for the green vegetation to store and release back when harvested. The clouds bringing moisture given up by the earth back to nourish the plants below.

Oh, and this is pretty too. =)
