I embarrassed my bride tonight.

We attended the dinner which celebrated years of work from 20 to one person with 45 years of work at St. John’s Hospital. Karen is celebrating her 20th anniversary.

They had a musical trio – violin, accordion and upright bass – serenading the folks at tables. When they approached, I asked Karen what she would like to hear. She mentioned “My Wild Irish Rose” and then “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.”

I asked the trio for Let Me Call You Sweetheart, and they said – “Will you sing along?” Of course I would!

I serenaded my bride of 30 years with a solo, holding her hand and getting a kiss at the end. Nice!

Karen turned red as a beet, and giggled like the schoolgirl she still is.

I’m a romantic at heart. =)
