Who’s Taller Now

Conor & Karen

Nephew & Aunt

Conor is in 7th grade – 13 years old. Going through growth spurts. He’ll probably be at least 6 foot tall.

His Aunt Karen said, let’s measure up and see who’s taller still!

Karen won the measure, but just for today.

Time marches on. Fast for us adults, slow for Conor.

He’ll catch up and surpass us in many ways.

That’s just the way it should be. =)

84 of 366 Self Portraits

My son Chris took this one.

We excused ourselves from dinner on Sunday, to take advantage of some light.

Camera in hand, we took some photos in the 30 minutes or so of clear sunlight just before sunset. Also, after snow showers!

I asked if he would do the honors of taking one of my self portraits.

He obliged.

The light behind me looks like butterfly wings. Chis pointed this out.

Nicely done!

Mother Mary – Daughter Karen

My lovely bride Karen requested this portrait of her and her Mother Mary.

I obliged with a smile.=)

We went over to Karen’s folks today for Easter dinner. The first time we’ve ever done that. Usually Tom & Mary spend Easter with Mary’s twin sister Kay and her dear Herman in Minnesota. Some illness and recovery in their house prevented that sojourn this year.

The feast was enjoyed by all. Chris & Jennie came over after their time with Jennie’s folks and her Grandfather. Uncle Don came over, looking tan after his Winter in Mexico.

After dinner conversation on politics, family and friends – catching up and sharing opinions.

By the way, this is taken at ISO3200 with my Pentax K20D. I’m ever amazed at the great image quality of this camera.

After dinner I leaned back and noticed my reflection in this knick-knack case.

Instant self portrait opportunity.

My Father-in-Law, Tom, is a collector of Swarovski crystal figurines. This cabinet is full of them.

I’m the handsome one with the camera in his hand. =)

I was on assignment this afternoon, trying to get some good photos with a dark gray overcast sky.

That remains to be seen. I’m still processing those.

In the mean time, I had the camera all set up on a tripod. I added the remote shutter release and went for a walk.

Back and forth. Hard to look natural.

I managed.

Snow on Easter, is the forcast.

Spring is here, but someone forgot to plan out the weather better. =)

Layla Rose First Birthday Party

My Great-Niece Layla Rose celebrates her first birthday with family and friends.

Cake, Party and Smiles all around!

I chose this one for my photo of the day. I like the washed out background, caused by my static flash, mounted on a stand and pointed at the ceiling just a few feet from Layla and her Grandmother in this photo.

I like the classic scene of a curious one year old, full of energy temporarily held at bay by a loving Grandmother.

A nice portrait of youth and the love of family.

Bark Like A Tree

Sometimes seredipity brings home the daily photo.

I sat in my car, in front of my home, listening to some captivating story on the radio (this happens more frequently, to my wonder). I saw the trees in our front yard, and noticed the texture of bark.

A-Ha! POTD – Picture of the day. =)

Of the near limitless angles and choices, I picked this tree and this angle as the object of my lens.

Nice protective cover for the life giving nutrition flowing from roots to leaves.

A lean, green, air-cleaning machine.
