The Golden Hour - the hour before sunset and after sunrise, when the angle of sunlight is most low on the horizon. Perfect light for many subjects.
This picture frame is sitting on our sunroom table, just waiting for a photograph to make it’s home inside. I think Karen has it out, hinting at wanting a photo print to place in it. My bride prefers her images in tangible form. Feel for her, as this is a constant source of consternation for us both. I’d be in the poor house (if there were still such a thing) if I went off and printed every photo I’ve taken. So, the multitude of choices, leaves this frame still empty.
Theres much to love about photographs, but they must be viewed in order to be cherished.
Some day, I want to put this daily photo stream into yearly volumes.
Someday, my prints will come, is what Karen says. =)
Not sure what they have, but this is what I pulled out of my archives for today’s self portrait.
It’s raining buckets outside, putting a slight damper (pun intended) on the self created image spirit.
I’m fascinated by my eye color. Must be the latent narcissist in me. My eyes have a different shade, depending on their surroundings. Hazel, what a name for an eye color.
I was just keeping my eyes wide open, waiting in the dark for my shutter to open. Hence my wide open eyes. Giving this a slightly odd look.
Then again, given the subject, odd is a given. =)
Camera at the ready, I waited until all was in the right spot, then grabbed this one frame.
I get a real sense of the danger these guys were risking, with the car to the left, my car, and the van in my rear view mirror.
A bunch of movement, frozen in time.
I hope they got where they were wanting to go safely.
A good opportunity for a reflected Self Portrait.
It took three shots to get a good one. I didn’t look at them when I took them. I just fired off three shots as I was walking up the steps and chose this one.
My forehead is elongated due to the imperfection in the glass. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. =)
A local World Market was having a going out of business sale, and they picked up a lovely dining table, 8 chairs, coffee table and side table all at 40% off. A good deal.
This was after unloading all but the sofas and large pieces of furniture.
We sat down to a meal of sloppy joes - ground beef with onion, barbque sauce on buns. Karen’s efforts to keep the moving crew fed paid off well.
I, of course, had to use it as a moment for my photo of the day.
I looked up and saw the light falling on my face in my reflection in the sunroom door glass.
Instant idea!
I swapped lenses for my telephoto - the Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 LD. I put it on manual focus, as it was hard to get the focus just right in autofocus. Even with manual, it’s just off - double glazing on the window throws it off.
Set the delay timer for 2 seconds and start shooting till I got it right. About 6 shots to get it where I was moderately satisfied.
I’m sitting in my recliner, with my IBM Thinkpad on my lap, and the server monitor on a swing-arm to my left. Captain Geek. =)
The sky is clear blue with the occasional cloud.
Finally!
It’s been gray, overcast, rainy, gloomy, etc. Not how the season of Spring should be.
This afternoon, the skies parted and we got treated to blue again.
Camera in hand, walking from my car to the house, I looked up at the birch tree.
That was all it took.
A talisman of Spring. Tiny buds of new growth, on the spindly branches, reaching out to the deep blue.
