Thank goodness for heaters in automobiles.
I used to own an air-cooled Volkswagen 412 wagon. Heat was an unknown property on that car. I recall scraping the inside and outside of my windshield while driving. My crazy youth.
Hand-held at arm’s length, my thumb snapping the shutter.

Not nearly what folks North of us or in the Northeast of the US are getting and have been getting.
My bride Karen went to a nice new restaurant tonight. The chef/owner is 23 years old. By the looks, tastes and crowds, I think it’s a hit!
I walked from work, as it’s just 2 blocks from me in the lobby of an old hotel – the Saint Nicholas – long since turned into apartments. The space was empty for ages until this place popped up right before the new year began.
Eclectic and savory tastes. For example, I had meatloaf, entitled: “Not Your Mama’s Meatloaf” with ground lamb.
We topped of the dinner by moving to a couch/chair setting in another part of the dining room and splitting a blueberry-pecan pie.
Karen took me back to my car, and I started scraping the snow off that had fallen during the day. About 2 inches+ worth.
A fitting photo of the day.

The snow came down in tiny flakes for most of the day today.
A gray and cold day.
I thought that after yesterday’s grimace, we all deserved a smiling me.

There was 12 inches of snow on the ground that day. Most of my co-workers had not made it into work as the streets had not been cleared by the morning from the overnight snowstorm.
My bride Karen and I made it in by driving through the tire ruts of the two folks with trucks which went before us out of our neighborhood. We heard reports of many others not so lucky, who got stuck.
After along day, as I was leaving I spied this bicycle, obviously waiting it’s owner, ready to brave the trip home. I was stunned.
I never found out who had ridden in to work using a bike that day. I just could not imagine how a bicyclist could traverse the mounds of snow that day.
Rugged indeed.

This is a picture of how frustrated I am after being on hold with my cable internet provider for more time than my patience allowed.
So, I took this self portrait to vent my frustration.
At least I have my cell phone as a conduit to the Internet.
Don’t be scared. I’m better now
I’ll be better when my home Internet is working again.

Lavender and purple were my Mom’s favorite colors.
When our son got married last year, I wore a lavender bow tie with my tuxedo. My Dad always wore bow ties. He was a doctor/surgeon, and wore them so as to “not contaminate the surgical field” as he would say.
I wore a lavender bow tie to honor my Mom & Dad.
Whenever I see this color, I recall the different lavender or purple colored items which Mom loved.
Memories of those we love dearly are like warm hugs, always welcome.

That’s me in my car, sitting at a traffic light after work.
The sun is setting later and later, giving me some working room for photographs after work.
I had some banking to do. While waiting in line, I set up my camera for hyperfocal distance – look it up. =) This allows me to keep everything in focus beyond a certain distance. As I set it up, everything 5.5 foot in front of the lens was in focus. Sweet for “taken while driving” photos.
I looked for windows which might afford me a reflected self portrait.
The light was too dim by now, and I could not find a good light backed window – they all were like this one, darker inside than out, which hid my details.
Subject for another time another attempt.
This was taken at ISO 1250 by the way. I love the fine-grain of the Pentax K10D. It’s like the Kodak Tri-X of film days.
