Dark Church Light Icon Glow

Fooling around prior to choir practice tonight.

I went into the darkened sanctuary.

It was so dark, I had to use my flashlight to find my way.

I set up in the back of the church, where the baptismal fountain is located.

I used it to steady my camera for a long exposure of the stained glass at the far end.

Under the cross is a set of icons, depicting Jesus in the center with saints on either side.

I wasn’t aiming to get the icons, I thought it would be too dark.

On this one frame, out of about 10 sets of exposures, the icons were glowing.

Why? I’m not sure.

Perhaps reflections of car headlights passing on the street behind this wall.

It sure gives an ethereal glow to the scene.
