It’s my birthday today.
The anniversary of my birth. 53 years ago today.
My mom was 44 when I was born, my dad 45.
Interesting fact about my mom: she was 35 when World War II ended and my dad came home from serving as a field surgeon overseas. She was 36 when my 3rd oldest sibling (Nick) was born. She had 5 more of my siblings: Frank, Mary Anne, John, Trish, then me between the age of 36 and 44. WOW! I’m still amazed at that feat of motherhood. Thanks Mom, Thanks Dad. I’m glad you wanted a large family. =)
Chris took this photo as we were waiting our turn to be seated at lunch today. We went out after morning church, and celebrated my birthday, and my sister Trish’s. Her birthday is September 3. People used to think we were twins: I was much bigger for my age.
Even though the purpose originally for the photo was due to the fact that both Karen and I picked out pink for our outfits (I had a pink stripped shirt on – Karen a pink jacket), I converted this to black and white. To me, the lack of color puts the focus on our gaze. Still happy in love after almost 29 years of marriage.
Ain’t love grand?
