World War II Veteran Tells His Story

I usually don’t go out at lunch. Too much to do, never enough time to do it. =)

Ed and Kevin convinced me to venture out to our airport to see the static display of WWII bombers.

I realize that these images may bring painful memories to those viewing them. I am very grateful to those who fought against the Fascist dictator, Hitler, and his allies from Japan. The world would be a very different and more troubled place had those veterans from my country and many, many others not laid their lives on the line.

That being said, I decided to go ahead and put these up for you to view. Some will cringe, others will soberly reflect on doing what had to be done, still others will avert their glance.

Those of us who are not students of history, any and all versions of history, are lacking much in our education. I include myself in that. The past and how fiends and heroes were made and unmade is very illuminating for the present and my future.

But I Digress…… =)

A WWII veteran tells the tale of flying missions in the Mediterranean Sea area. He had an engine die due to flack, and had to dump his load of bombs in some Italian body of water. Made a good landing. Nice to see folks listening attentively and enthralled. I’m sure he was thrilled to be heard as well.

Just getting a picture here!

Letorney Family Jump!

At my sister-in-law’s request, we went to Washington Park to do some family portrait shots.

Ahead of time, I requested this pose. The Jump Shot!

Not perfect, but I like it and so to they.

What more could you ask for? =)

Sunset on the way home

I should just give up and be prepared to take a photo when I know the sunset is going to hit me as I turn the corner towards the Western sky while driving.

I wanted to grab the scene from about 500 feet further back, but was fumbling to get my camera ready and slowing down. =)

I love the starburst around the sun and it’s reflection in my car hood.

I stopped down the lens to be able to get it all in without blowing the highlights. Stuck my camera out my window, focused and grabbed this one shot.

I held onto the camera for dear life. I’d hate to see it tumble.

Like this sunset, the camera and all things in my life are fleeting. Here today, gone tomorrow.

I try to appreciate them while I have them. Goes for sunsets, and people as well.

Here’s hoping you have an appreciation and gratitude for what is in your life.

I’m having a ball, learning and seeing new things every moment.
