I was at my brother’s home to take photos of my great niece Charlotte.
Katherine and her family came over to take her sister Carrie and baby Charlotte for a boat ride!
Katherine wanted to get up on water skis for the first time this year.
As I was talking to Katherine, I pointed my camera at her.
“I don’t want my picture taken!” she wailed, trying to cover up. Half-heartedly, I think.
One click, one great portrait.
Even if the subject was trying to avert my lens, I believe I caught that inner child. =)

I’m a couple of days behind in posting.
Happy Father’s Day to all, especially to Terry, Charlotte’s Dad.
I love the lighting in this one. It’s amazing how the character of someone changes with the light.
Charlotte looks angelic in this photo, to my eyes.
We had a bunch of fun, trying out different poses and locations for photos.
This was the last one.
When the light looks bad – move yourself or your subject around until you see the right light. Position of the light and the camera are all important.

Their house sits on a local lake. They’ve turned it into a green and floral retreat, of which this panoramic photo only gives a small taste.
The sun was about to set, and I was in-between activities. Taking a stroll by the lake, I thought, “what a great position for a pano pic!”
I took 22 photos, and used the Autostitch software to put them all together into this one.
Right behind me is a boat dock and the lake.
Other photos to come!

At my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding two weeks ago, my wide-angle zoom, the lovely Sigma 17-70mm, broke. I was crushed (not for long. “The Chicken Dance” was coming up!).
I sent it away and it arrived back tonight in better shape than when I first bought it!
Johanna always spends time when I come home demanding attention. I love providing it. She has me well trained to scratch her itches, or lay placid while she kneads my stomach or arm.
I just held the camera in one hand, and fired away.
The result is a somewhat blurred photo of our ritual. =)
Always have a camera at the ready!

From Romeo & Juliet, Act II, Scene II, Capulet’s Orchard.
Romeo speaks to his Juliet:
But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief
That thou her maid art far more fair than she.
Be not her maid, since she is envious.
Her vestal livery is but sick and green,
And none but fools do wear it. Cast it off.
It is my lady; O, it is my love!
O that she knew she were!
She speaks, yet she says nothing. What of that?
Her eye discourses; I will answer it.
I am too bold; ’tis not to me she speaks.
Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,
Having some business, do entreat her eyes
To twinkle in their spheres till they return.
What if her eyes were there, they in her head?
The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars
As daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven
Would through the airy region stream so bright
That birds would sing and think it were not night.
See how she leans her cheek upon her hand!
O that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek!
A candle setting at a wedding, after much merry-making.
It reminded me of this scene that the Bard penned in the year 1595 entitled:
THE TRAGEDY OF ROMEO AND JULIET
by William Shakespeare
My hopes for the couple at this wedding are for a much longer and lasting love!

Got my hair cut today after work.
Andrea’s been cutting my hair (as well as my son’s) for quite a while.
I always enjoy the time in her chair, under her spell.
Her artistry is superb. No one else can quite fix my hair as well as Andrea does.
I shared my son’s wedding photos and a story or two.
Andrea’s daughter just graduated from High School, and she had a tale of her own about the party she and her family put on.
I took my camera into the shop to avoid the heat of my car.
As I was leaving, I took this one photo and asked my standard question: “May I use this for my photo of the day?”
Andrea, graciously agreed, amid a parting hug.

We met up for lunch with my sister Trish.
We had fun.
It sure is different seeing him as a married man. I feel older, happier, and hopeful.
I didn’t ask for a posed shot, I just took a couple of snaps as the card was opened, then set my camera down for the rest of the meal.
So, no smiling faces, but I can see a hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth.
Lots of love here.
