Charlotte the Explorer

From a photo session with my Great Niece Charlotte.

I love the green grass, and obviously Charlotte did as well!

It was a fun session. We did several changes of scenery and clothes.

I finished post processing 160 photos down from the 946 I took that evening. Click happy, that’s me.

I’ll put more up after a bit.

I’m such a tease! =)

Mary Beth’s Birthday Party

With my new Russian-made Zenitar wide-angle lens on, we arrived at a backyard party for our dear friend, Mary Beth.

Mary Beth has been on assignment in Germany for about 6 months and is back in the States for some advanced course work this summer. Before she starts the grueling college process, she popped in to Springfield, IL to spend time with friends and family.

She turns 60 in September, so a party was called to celebrate with her.

As you can partly see in this photo, the back yard here is a garden of green delights.

Mike grilled out chicken and burgers, and everyone else brought some vegetables or sweet to share.

Good conversation, and lots of laughs shared.

Sufi, the hostesses golden retriever dog, was a hit. I enjoyed playing with her throughout the night.

Love the new lens, by the way. Now I have to learn how to use it!

Cloud-9614

I had my newest lens on. The Vivitar 135mm f1:2.8 M42 mount. All manual.

The clouds have been calling me these past two evenings.

I like the curled finger of this one.

Come, take my picture.

3 from Driving 9599

Sunset, Out my car window, Using Automatix Pro with 3 exposures, Applied paper texture.

Can you tell I was having fun with this?

The original was dark – all the trees and land below the horizon were black. Automatix Pro pulled out the details.

It was blurry due to driving faster than my shutter (Ha!). So I applied a paper texture.

As my friend Art would say, “That looks artie!”

I’m chuckling.

p.s. only 401 more shutter clicks to hitting the 10,000 mark!

Sunset Over My Home

Taken from the sidewalk in front of my home.

Light and the images it creates for my eyes are such fleeting things.

Tonight, as I was driving home from a photo assignment, I saw the most delicious light, peeking out as golden rays from underneath the clouds.

I wanted to pull to the curb, stop and climb about 40 feet in the air to capture the “perfect” portrait of that light.

Instead, I did what I could.

I set my camera, in between keeping myself and my car out of harms way.

I pointed it out my window in the general direction of the sky I wanted so badly to capture. Cursing the abundance of light standards and telephone and electrical wires.

I got some potential captures that way.

As I was walking up the sidewalk to my front door. I saw the remnants of the light and clouds which I had tried to capture.

I pointed my camera, framed and here you are.

However fleeting, light seems to continually grab hold of something deep in my soul and lighten my mood.

From a few days ago.

A very, very hot day – 95 degrees F, 35 C and humidity was wringing wet.

I spy our neighbor, Mr. Squirrel, asleep in his hidey hole.

I look again 5 minutes later, and he’s upside down, apparently letting his belly get some cool air. =)

For your amusement and delight.

Charlotte goes for a boat ride!

Carrie, holding up Charlotte, prior to her first boat ride.

This is part of a set of my nephew Chris’ new boat.

I had fun taking the photos, and seeing the nice light – almost sunset.
