Jan – Celtic Harpist
She gets around a bit with this thing.
Not easy to carry, but she does. It has a nice gig-bag with shoulder strap.
Jan is a member of our Ensemble at St. Agnes Church. We sing at the 11:30AM Sunday service. I play guitar, sort of.
Dan asked me tonight about one of the chords I was mangling. I said, it’s my all purpose for about 4 chords that I’ve not taken the time to learn, but sounds fair – barre on the third fret, the first 4 strings. Covers many of my sins. Dan, sharp-eared one, heard the dissonance. He smiled at my explanation.
Short-cuts, make-dos, good-enoughs. Hard to know when to depend on them and when to push towards perfection a bit harder.
Jan gets better and better. She travels to Chicago – a round-trip of about 450 miles, for her harp lessons.
Me, I learned about 6 chords from a friend, about 30 years ago and that’s the extent of my lessons. =) I do love to play, though. With enthusiasm, if not perfection.
